The proposed development involves the expansion and modernisation of St Patrick’s Mental Health Services’ mental health campus at St Edmundsbury Hospital, Lucan Road, on an 8.1 ha site, over a 10-year permission period.

It includes the construction of a purpose built 200 no. bed adult inpatient facility and a 14 no. bed adolescent unit, alongside the demolition of existing buildings and refurbishment of protected historic structures for healthcare and support uses. The scheme also provides public open space, service user gardens, upgraded access and parking, and extensive landscaping and infrastructure works.

Overall, the development will modernise and expand the existing 52 no. bed hospital to deliver a total of 214 no. inpatient beds with associated clinical, staff, and support facilities.

This application for permission is accompanied by an Environmental Impact Assessment Report.
